    Canon Held 6th Water Conservation and Utilization of Water Hyacinth for Sustainability

    Canon Group of companies in Thailand, namely Canon Hi-Tech (Thailand) Ltd., Canon Prachinburi (Thailand) Ltd. and Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., , in collaboration with Prasart Thong Municipality, held the 6th Canon Water Conservation and Utilization of Water Hyacinth for Sustainability activity, at Ban Len Canal, Bang Pa-In District, Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya on May 28th, 2022. This environmental activity was presided over by Mr. Kenichiro Kubo - President of Canon Hi-Tech (Thailand) Ltd. and Mr. Watchara Krasarachat, Bang Pa-In District Director.

    While developing innovative products and technologies, Canon is also working to preserve natural resources and the environment through corporate activities based on Kyosei, its corporate philosophy which means ‘to live and work together for the common good’. Canon Water Conservation and Utilization of Water Hyacinth for Sustainability project has already continued for six consecutive years. The objectives of this project are to conserve water sources, improve canal landscape, maintain biodiversity, promote the knowledge of water conservation and use of local weeds, create value for the community, raise awareness and promote engagement of employees and communities in environmental conservation. Canon volunteer employees and the local communities helped clean Ban-Len canal by removing more than 125 tons of water hyacinth. In addition, for sustainable utilization of water hyacinth, Prasart Thong Municipality demonstrated how to turn water hyacinth into biofertilizer and EM balls, while Baan Nhong Krue Boon Community Enterprise demonstrated how to transform water hyacinth into materials or products alternative to plastic.
