RF7-14mm f/2.8-3.5L Fisheye STM - RF Lens World
RF7-14mm f/2.8-3.5L Fisheye STM
Canon has released a long-awaited fisheye zoom lens for RF-mount cameras. This lens is the first*1 circular fisheye lens to offer a 190° field of view, which delivers visual expression that cannot be achieved with conventional lenses. Compared to the EF8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM, this lens offers a 10° wider angle of view at the wide end, for more striking, full-circle fisheye photography. While most fisheye lenses cover a 180° viewing angle, the unique 190° coverage of this lens expands the range in both the horizontal and vertical directions.
This lens includes the full range of optical features unique to L lenses. Two replica aspherical lenses are employed to achieve high image quality across the entire field of view, from centre to edge. This helps to correct the spherical aberration that tends to occur in large-aperture lenses as well as the distortion that frequently affects wide-angle lenses, while keeping the overall zoom lens design compact. The effective placement of five UD lens elements helps ensure clear images with minimal colour bleeding. Furthermore, thanks to a fixed front element zoom design, the entire lens does not extend during zoom operation, thus enhancing durability.
The lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.15m (at 7-14mm AF), allowing the user to get very close to a subject. A maximum magnification of 0.35x (at 14mm AF) allows the user to capture unique close-ups that also have the sense of perspective of a fisheye field of view. This lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at the wide end, compared to the f/4 aperture of the EF8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM lens. This allows the user to create beautiful bokeh effects in close-up shots, and to use faster shutter speeds under low-light conditions.
When used with a f/2.8 aperture setting or lower, the lens is compatible with the Drop-In Variable ND Filter A (sold separately). This is useful when shooting in conditions where brightness varies continuously, or when you want to capture a smooth water surface using a slow shutter speed. Additionally, the Drop-In Circular Polarising Filter A (sold separately) is particularly effective for landscape photography. It helps the user achieve deeper blue skies and more vivid greens when photographing trees and landscapes.
Canon employs a rear-focus design and an STM drive to achieve high-speed, high-precision autofocus. The microprocessor-controlled actuators and the camera's AF algorithm are finely optimised, so the AF system provides quiet, smooth tracking during video recording, to capture high-quality images of rapidly moving subjects.
The RF7-14mm f/2.8-3.5L Fisheye STM is a new-generation AF fisheye zoom lens with an expanded angle of view, high image quality, a large aperture design, and a drop-in filter feature. This lens provides stunningly beautiful and uniquely captivating visual expression, with a total weight of just 476g (approx.).
