RF85mm f/1.4L VCM - RF Lens World

This series of large-aperture, single-focal-length lenses breaks new ground in imaging capabilities, and seamlessly links photo and video shooting. The RF85mm f/1.4L VCM generates natural images with no sense of perspective at a focal length of 85mm, which is the standard for portrait photography. This medium telephoto lens offers a maximum aperture of f/1.4 and the rich bokeh effect that captures the subject in sharp detail. When shooting movies, the lens can correct focus breathing, allowing the user to take advantage of the bokeh effect while maintaining stability even when the focus shifts.

The optical system is optimally arranged with UD lenses that provide precise compensation of chromatic aberration and demonstrate crisp image performance with minimal colour bleeding. A GMo aspherical lens is used to deliver high image quality across the entire image area. In addition, special Air Sphere Coating (ASC) is applied to both surfaces of the lens, to suppress the likelihood of ghosting. The Voice Coil Motor (VCM) provides swift, smooth and quiet focusing, despite the relatively large mass of this large-aperture lens's focus unit.

The exterior is identical to that of the RF85mm f/1.4L VCM and other f/1.4L VCM lenses. The overall length of the lens is approximately 99.3mm, which matches that of the f/1.4L VCM series. However, it is more than 300g lighter than the EF85mm f/1.4L IS USM, with a total weight of approximately 636g. In addition to providing consistent operability, the lens is easy to use, with intuitive procedures for changing lenses and for shooting movies using gimbals or other support rigs. The filter diameter is also standardised at 67mm, so the user can change lenses and still use the same filter.
