Canon Supports the Foundation for Slum Child Care for the 2nd Consecutive Year,
Expanding Opportunities for Thai Children

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Canon) continues its commitment to social development by supporting the Foundation for Slum Child Care under the Royal Patronage for the 2nd consecutive year. The initiative supports Baan Dek On Sua Yai and Baan Hang Kwam Wang (On Nut), helping young children, particularly those from vulnerable communities, access a supportive environment for growth and learning, while nurturing their potential to grow into capable members of society.
This year's initiative was held on July 17 at Baan Dek On Sua Yai and Baan Hang Kwam Wang (On Nut), 2 centers under the Foundation for Slum Child Care under the Royal Patronage, which currently care for a total of 79 children. Canon executives and employee volunteers provided support in 3 key areas: 1) donating essential supplies for child care, including infant formula, diapers, clothing, cleaning products, and other items requested by the foundation; 2) engaging children in coloring and interactive activities to support their learning, development, and social skills; and 3) promoting nutrition and hygiene by providing lunch and dinner to ensure children receive balanced, age-appropriate meals.
Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “Canon operates under its corporate philosophy of Kyosei, which emphasizes working together for the common good and embracing people equally, regardless of race, religion, or culture. Our continued support for the Foundation for Slum Child Care for the 2nd consecutive year reflects our commitment to advancing society alongside business growth. We believe that giving young children the opportunity to grow and thrive lays a strong foundation for Thailand’s long-term future. Canon will continue to extend its care through community outreach initiatives that help build a society where everyone can grow and live together happily.”
The Foundation for Slum Child Care under the Royal Patronage was established in 1981 to support disadvantaged children from birth to age 5 in low-income communities across Bangkok Metropolitan Area. It promotes their development through nurturing care, education, and improved quality of life. In 1984, the foundation was registered as a charitable organization under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has served as Honorary President since 1983.
The foundation currently operates 4 child care centers: Baan Som Wai in Khlong Toei community, Baan Sri-Nagarindra in the Nong Khaem garbage dump community, Baan Hang Kwam Wang in Soi On Nut 88, and Baan Dek On Sua Yai in the Sua Yai Pracha Uthit community. Together, they provide daily care for around 250 children, most from low-income families affected by social challenges such as domestic violence, parental substance abuse, and unsafe living conditions. Through its day-care model, the foundation enables parents to work and earn an income before returning to care for their children after work, helping vulnerable families become stronger.
Canon recognizes the foundation’s work as a targeted, sustainable approach to social development, as strong families form the foundation of a resilient society. The company provides annual support for children and youth in education, nutrition, and hygiene, helping ensure equal opportunities to grow. This commitment reflects Canon’s Kyosei philosophy of benefiting people, society, the environment, and the world.
