Approx. 24.2 MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor
Get high-resolution photos with rich tones and beautiful bokeh to make your subject stand out - especially when paired with a large-aperture RF prime lens. With an ISO that goes up to 102,400, you can capture stunning images even when working in challenging lighting conditions.
Improved Image Stabilizer
The built-in 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilizer of the EOS R8 Mark II reduces camera shake across lenses - delivering stable, smooth footage. Pair it with a compatible RF lens and Coordinated Control IS combines the In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) and Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) for even greater shake reduction of up to 7.5 stops1 for handheld telephoto and long-exposure shooting that once required a tripod.
Creative Features
Colour Filters
Choose from a total of 16 colour filters including two new film-like options for both stills and video - "NegativeFilmtone" and "PositiveFilmtone". Adjust the strength of the colour filters from 0% to 100% (total of 10 levels of adjustment) in-camera according to your preferences.
Handheld Night Scene Mode
A new Handheld Night Scene mode is available for stills with 5 colour modes. Choose between the "Standard" colour mode where it generally brightens dark areas of your images or the tinted colour modes like "Blue", "Black & Orange", "Pink" and "Green". Shooting impressive night scenes straight out of your camera without RAW processing is now easier.
Cinema View
Record in 2.35:1 widescreen to achieve cinematic wide angles of view and frame rates close to that of a film. This can be used in combination with colour filters and Slow & Fast Motion Movie mode, making it easy to create movies with a film-like atmosphere.
Background Blur
Give your videos a dreamy look and make your subject stand out more by adjusting the amount of bokeh in your background (up to 5 levels of adjustment) using the Background Blur feature in Scene Intelligent Auto movie mode.
*Amount of blur is subject to the widest aperture available on the attached lens.
Defocus
Easily achieve smooth defocus transitions in your videos by assigning the Defocus settings to any customisable button. Pressing the button defocuses your videos automatically at the blur and speed levels you set. You can adjust the blur up to 5 levels and speed is adjustable to 10 levels.
LUT Files
Achieve the colour tones that you envision in your videos by adjusting the intensity of your favourite LUT files from 10% to 100% (a total of 10 levels of adjustment) - a new feature found on the EOS R8 Mark II!
Easily download these files on a SD card or your smartphone using Camera Connect and apply them immediately on the EOS R8 Mark II.
Auto Mode - Advanced A+ and Creative Bracket
Shooting night scenes and backlit shots is now easier with Advanced A+ mode that intelligently recognises the scene and applies the optimum settings automatically for well-balanced, high-quality results.
Want to experiment with different creative styles? With a single snap, Creative Bracketing mode automatically generates multiple versions of the same photo with different brightness and colour settings applied. Just pick your favourite look during playback!
High-Speed Shooting
Be it fast-moving cars, wildlife or sports, the EOS R8 Mark II keeps up with the speed of your subjects. The EOS R8 Mark II captures photos at up to 40 frames per second with electronic shutter. You can also set electronic 1st curtain for flash photography or shooting fast moving subjects with less rolling shutter.
Pre-Continuous Shooting
Save up to 20 frames before you fully press the shutter, even the moments you didn't anticipate. Be in the moment with a peace of mind instead of fully relying on your intuition and experience to capture.

AF Capabilities
Register People Priority
Focus easily on your desired subject even in a crowded scene.
By registering people in the camera in advance, the EOS R8 Mark II will be able to detect and lock focus on a specific person when there are multiple people in the frame. This is extremely useful for group scenes.
Subject Detection
Track your subjects quickly and accurately across stills and video, thanks to Dual Pixel CMOS AF II.
Powered by Deep Learning AF, the EOS R8 Mark II recognises and follows people, animals and vehicles, holding focus on faces, eyes, heads and bodies even as subjects move unpredictably.
Video
4K 60p with 6K Oversampling
Create detailed 4K 60p footage oversampled from 6K. This allows you to achieve cleaner, more detailed images with smoother gradations and more accurate colours.
FHD 1080p for Slow-Mo with Audio Recording
Make moments slower in Full HD 1080p for added impact and detail - with audio captured, your footage is ready to use straight out of the camera.
Movie Digital IS
Along with Coordinated Control IS, achieve more stable videos with Movie Digital IS when recording handheld or on the go.
You can now switch to Enhance+ mode for even more stable footage when you're recording videos in 4K.
AF for Close-Up Demo
Ideal when you would like to introduce products while filming yourself. It switches focus between your face and the product in your hand automatically without having to do manual AF adjustments yourself – no need for awkward hand gestures when placing the product closer to the camera.
Canon Log 3
Designed with colour grading in mind, you can have the flexibility to adjust colours to your preference during post-production.
Smooth Skin
Have the flexibility to set to five levels, using natural effects to make blemishes and pores less noticeable and skin look more beautiful.
It can also be used during livestreaming via USB connection, together with [AF for close-up demos].
Natural White Balance
When moving between environments with different lighting conditions, avoid jarring changes in colour in your videos by using the expanded array of white balance (WB) controls.
Customise colour temperature presets, turn on Shockless WB for smoother colour shifts, lock the white balance or control the speed of WB response for a more natural and consistent look across scenes.
VR Clear Mode
Create immersive virtual reality (VR) footages with the EOS R8 Mark II, which is compatible with both full-frame and APS-C VR lenses.
The new VR Clear Mode improves the viewing experience with VR goggles in high-contrast outdoor settings by automatically adjusting to the optimum settings for you, giving you images with cleaner details.

Dust-and-Drip Resistance
Built for real world conditions, the EOS R8 Mark II features dust-and-drip resistant sealing across key areas like the battery compartment, card slot and rotating controls.
Extension Grip Compatibility
For photographers with larger hands, you can choose to attach the Extension Grip EG-E2 with the EOS R8 Mark II for a better grip. It gives your pinky finger a place to rest when using a heavier telephoto lens, ensuring a more comfortable grip and handling experience.
You can mount a tripod easily through the tripod hole without removal, and the battery can also be changed with the grip attached.
The Extension Grip EG-E2 can be easily attached and removed with the turn of a dial.

The EOS R8 Mark II supports a total of four livestreaming methods: two wired connections (UVC/UAC and HDMI) and two wireless connections using the Camera Connect and Live Switcher Mobile apps.
Select a method that best suits your workflow and the screen displays guidance on connecting to the corresponding device, allowing even first-time users to connect easily.
UVC/UAC
Simply connect a USB-C cable between your camera and laptop for high-quality streaming at 4K 60p for your livestreams and video calls. Long-term streaming (Full HD only) is also possible through direct USB power supply from your computer – you don't have to worry about battery life.
Live Switcher Mobile App
Livestream from multiple devices at once from multiple angles for a more interesting livestream, or for those who want to level up their livestreams.

Dual Pixel 3D Converter Software
The images you capture can now be converted into high-quality 3D models with this new software based on Canon's proprietary on-sensor phase-detection AF system, Dual Pixel CMOS AF. It generates these 3D images from Dual Pixel RAW data, enabling the creation of a high-quality 3D model of the captured scene with a single shot.
With the EOS R8 Mark II, 3D models that could previously only be converted using DPRAW can now be converted using the lighter JPEG format with distance information.
