Canon Organizes its “36th Canon Volunteer” Activity,
Restoring Sea Ecosystem with Sandbar Shark Release and Beach Cleanup in Chonburi Province
Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Canon) organized its 36th "Canon Volunteer" activity. Led by Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, the event brought together 83 volunteer employees from the Canon Group of Companies in Thailand. Collaborating with the Business Training Center Navy Blue Team, the group helped restore the coastal ecosystem of the Gulf of Thailand in Sattahip District, Chonburi. Activities included releasing aquatic animals and a beach cleanup at Tawan Ron Beach. Additionally, the team extended support to the Navy's Stray Dog Care Center in the Toei Ngam Beach area, contributing animal food and cleaning equipment, emphasizing Canon’s commitment to animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, "The Canon Volunteer activity is an ongoing initiative dedicated to giving back to Thai society, spanning social, educational, and environmental dimensions. In the 36th edition, the focus is on environmental stewardship and animal welfare in Chonburi. Starting at Tawan Ron Beach, volunteer employees participated in beach cleanup and the release of crucial aquatic species including Flower Crabs, Purple-spotted Bigeye Fish, and Sandbar Sharks, a small shark species at risk of extinction. These sharks play a vital role in maintaining marine ecosystem balance by controlling the population of small aquatic animals. Subsequently, we made our way to the Royal Thai Navy's Stray Dog Care Center at Toei Ngam Beach, contributing 400 kilograms of dog and cat food. The volunteers also collaborated in cleaning dog and cat cages while providing essential cleaning equipment for the center. Throughout the years, Canon has integrated its business operations with a commitment to environmental sustainability, guided by the corporate philosophy of 'Kyosei,' which underscores collaborative efforts for the common good."
