Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. continued its 40th Canon Volunteer : Go For Green initiative. Led by Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, a team of 90 employee volunteers and their families participated in mangrove restoration activities and ecosystem learning at the Bangpu Nature Education Center, Samut Prakan. This ecologically rich mangrove forest, located near Bangkok, serves as a crucial habitat for numerous seagulls and water birds and is recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park (AHP).
Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “At Canon, we have always prioritized social responsibility and environmental conservation. As part of this commitment, our volunteer team planted 2,000 mangrove trees at the Bangpu Nature Education Center in Samut Prakan. This vital mangrove ecosystem provides a habitat for diverse benthic species and serves as a seasonal refuge and feeding ground for migratory birds. Our employees also participated in a learning session on the importance of the ecosystem, explored the nature trail, collected plastic waste, and released crabs and fish to help maintain ecological balance. These activities aim to promote the sustainable conservation of mangrove forest areas.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Canon planted 2,000 mangrove trees in this activity, which are expected to absorb approximately 7,800 kgCO₂e of CO2 within one year. Volunteers also collected a total of 75.2 kilograms of marine debris, equivalent to a reduction of 174.46 kgCO₂e in carbon emissions. These efforts align with Canon’s support for the national agenda to drive Thai society toward Net Zero.
