Activity, Creating Firebreak and Support Wildlife Conservation in Nakhon Nayok Province

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd, led by Mr. Hiroshi Yokota (2nd left), President and Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun (5th left), Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, held its “Canon Volunteer #32 — Forest for Life" activity. The visit to Nakhon Nayok was joined by 117 volunteer staff from Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Canon Prachinburi (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Canon Hi-Tech (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Material Automation (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Canon’s business partner KWE-Kintetsu World Express (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The group participated in various wildlife rescue activities at the Wildlife Rescue Center 1, Khao Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Nayok Province. The Center functions as a wildlife rehabilitator for injured, lost, and illegally captured wildlife. The Center ensures the animals are fit and healthy before sending them to related agencies for further care.

Canon’s executives and staff participated in activities aimed at protecting wildlife and preserving the forest. They provided food for wild animals such as long-tailed macaques, gibbons, Bengal tigers, bears, and deer. As part of the outreach, Canon also supported the animal food supplies for the Center and helped clean animal cages. In addition, the team built houses for the gibbons made from used environmentally-friendly pallet wood collected from Canon's warehouses. The group installed the houses in the forest, creating a natural habitat for gibbons, one of the endangered species. Furthermore, the volunteers helped build an 800-meter-long firebreak at Huai Prue Reservoir, to prevent the spread of wildfire during the dry season. The firebreak also helps protect the wild animals from the fire.

Mr. Hiroshi Yokota, President and CEO, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, "Canon Thailand has been organizing our Canon Volunteer Project with the aim to give back to Thai society. This CSR project aligns with Canon’s corporate philosophy of Kyosei, which focuses on working together for the common good. In the future, we will continue to carry out more CSR activities, contributing to a more sustainable society"
