Canon Brings Back to School Smiles

Canon Brings Back-to-School Smiles, Holding the 45th Canon Volunteer Event
at Ban Chong Takhian School in Nakhon Nayok

Employee volunteers enhanced the school environment and donated computers, sports equipment,
and learning materials while delivering skills-building activities for students in remote communities.

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a global leader in imaging technology, organized the 45th Canon Volunteer Project. The initiative brought together 53 employee volunteers and their family members at Ban Chong Takhian School (Laiad Waree Uppatham) in Phra Achan Subdistrict, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province. The volunteers helped improve the school’s learning environment for students in remote communities as they began the 2026 academic year.

Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “Canon is committed to supporting small public schools in remote communities to help expand educational opportunities for Thai youth. We believe that young people are the foundation of the country’s future, and that sustainable development begins with quality education in a supportive learning environment. As the start of a new academic year is an important milestone for students, Canon also organized hands-on workshops on environmental awareness, hygiene, and safety. Designed to be engaging, easy to understand, and practical, these activities provide knowledge beyond the classroom while helping students build essential life skills.”

Ban Chong Takhian School (Laiad Waree Uppatham), a small primary school under the Nakhon Nayok Primary Educational Service Area Office, was established in 1939. Its 2 single-story wooden school buildings had deteriorated walls and flooring, while the interior paint had faded over time. To help prepare the classrooms for the new academic year, the school requested support from Canon for renovation. The school currently serves 73 students, most of whom come from low-income families.

During the 45th Canon Volunteer project, volunteers provided ID photo services for students and teachers, repainted 5 classrooms and computer rooms in total, and installed 2 new football goal nets to replace damaged ones. The team also conducted hands-on workshops on road safety, safe use of electrical appliances, emergency preparedness, waste segregation, and food waste reduction. To promote environmental awareness through practical learning, Canon donated a student desk set made from recycled UHT milk cartons. In addition, Material Automation (Thailand) Co., Ltd., one of Canon’s group companies in Thailand, donated 3 notebook computers for the school’s computer room, while Canon employees contributed school supplies, stationery, and other essential items to support students as they begin the new academic year.

Mr. Wachirawit Kaewta, Director of Ban Chong Takhian School (Laiad Waree Uppatham), said, “We sincerely appreciate Canon’s support through this initiative. Beyond improving the school’s learning environment, the project has broadened students’ horizons, strengthened their interpersonal skills, and provided valuable new knowledge and experiences. The volunteer team’s spirit of teamwork and dedication to society has also set a positive example, helping inspire students to grow into responsible and capable members of the community in the future.”

The 45th Canon Volunteer project reflects Canon’s commitment to growing alongside people, communities, and the environment through sustainable business practices. Guided by its Kyosei philosophy of living and working together for the common good, Canon believes that the bright classrooms and young smiles of today are seeds of hope that will grow into a vital force driving Thailand forward.
