Bringing Primary Students from 3 Rural Schools to Science Museums

The company promotes the development of science skills among youth in commemoration of
National Science Day on August 18, 2024.

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. held its 2nd edition of the"Canon Volunteer for Field Trip to Science Museums" project on Friday, August 9, 2024. The one-day field trip took place at the National Science Museum, the Rama 9 Museum, and the Golden Jubilee National Geological Museum in Pathum Thani province. Joining the trip with Canon volunteer staff were 147 students and teachers from 3 rural schools, namely Sinsangwan Uthit School in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province,Ban Nong Ka Bao School in Saraburi province, and Wat Na Hin Lat School in Nakhon Nayok province.

Mr. Phongthep Prasertvoranun, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, "The ‘Canon Volunteer for Field Trip to Science Museums’ project aims to enhance educational quality and spark interest in science and technology among students. We selected public schools in remote areas that face a shortage of teachers and science laboratory equipment. Many students come from underprivileged backgrounds with parents working as farmers or general laborers. The opportunity to visit science museums in larger cities seems out of reach. As a result, science education can seem distant, leading to a lack of motivation to explore this essential field. Through this project, Canon not only provides youth with access to educational experiences but also inspires them to seek knowledge beyond the classroom, particularly in science. This will help them grow into capable individuals who can contribute to the sustainable development of our country."

The "Canon Volunteer for Field Trip to Science Museums" project was first launched in 2023. Currently, the project support 6 schools, with a total of 302 students and teachers participating. This project is part of Canon's commitment to support education for Thai youth, reflecting Canon's "Kyosei Philosophy," which emphasizes living and working together for the common good.

In its second year, the Canon Volunteer for Field Trip to Science Museums organized a field trip for students from 3 small primary schools in the central region, allowing them to expand their science knowledge outside the classroom. The students visited 3 leading science museums in Pathum Thani province, where they explored a wide range of scientific topics, including computers and technology, biology, geology, zoology, and the environment. The experience was educational and engaging, igniting a passion for learning among the students. Canon organized the event and covered all expenses.

Canon accepts applications from government schools to participate in the upcoming"Canon Volunteer for Field Trip to Science Museums" project in 2025. Interested schools can submit their requests to the Corporate Communications Department at Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. starting in January 2025.
