Canon, a global leader in digital imaging technology, launches 4 new RF lenses to meet the needs of hybrid photographers and content creators aiming to elevate their videography. The lineup includes the RF50mm f/1.4L VCM and RF24mm f/1.4L VCM, prime lenses with wide apertures that enable subject-background separation, unique perspectives across focal lengths, stunning bokeh, and cinematic shallow depth of field. The RF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z, a versatile telephoto zoom lens with a wide aperture, is ideal for capturing distant subjects in sports, journalism, and outdoor activities. Additionally, addressing the growing demand for Virtual Reality content, Canon introduces the RF-S7.8mm f/4 STM Dual for the EOS R7, designed for immersive VR video recording. These innovative lenses offer the 3D experience, higher quality, and greater versatility for modern content creation.
RF50mm f/1.4L VCM and RF24mm f/1.4L VCM – f/1.4 Prime Lenses for Exceptional Cinematic Quality
Canon introduces 2 new hybrid prime lenses designed for still photography and videography, seamlessly complementing the focal lengths photographers rely on and integrating perfectly with the previously released RF35mm f/1.4L VCM. The RF24mm f/1.4L VCM offers an ultra-wide angle of view, expanding perspectives beyond the human eye to create vivid, dynamic scenes. The RF50mm f/1.4L VCM, with a standard angle of view similar to human vision, delivers natural and realistic images. Both lenses combine lightweight, compact designs with a wide f/1.4 aperture, delivering stunning cinematic bokeh and enabling photographers to craft distinctive perspectives across the 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm focal lengths — trusted prime lens quality.
RF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z: Classic Telephoto Zoom Lens Upgraded for Video
Complementing the RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z, the RF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z offers an extended 70-200mm telephoto zoom range, ideal for high-quality photography and videography in sports, news, and outdoor settings. Its fixed-barrel design and internal focusing system retain the same center of gravity during zooming, ensuring smooth compatibility with gimbals and cases. The RF mount enhances optical performance, and the lens is about 25% lighter than the EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM. A wide f/2.8 aperture delivers sharp images in low light. Featuring the same 3 image stabilization (IS) modes as the RF24-105mm, the RF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z integrates seamlessly as a complement to or replacement for the RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z.
RF-S7.8mm f/4 STM Dual with EOS R7
RF-S7.8mm f/4 STM Dual: Capture Stunning 3D Photos and Videos with Realistic Depth
The new lenses in the EOS VR System for the EOS R7 camera enable professionals to create immersive 180° VR images and videos with stunning quality. Each lens features a 63° field of view, equivalent to a 35mm lens, and offers autofocus that operates like a conventional lens. Parallax images are recorded directly onto the camera’s sensor. They can be processed using EOS VR Utility software or the EOS VR plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro. Users can edit and export content in formats like MV-HEVC Spatial, compatible with Apple Vision Pro, VR 180°, and 3D SBS.
When paired with RF-S7.8mm f/4 STM Dual lens, the EOS R7 weights just 743g (including memory card and battery). For video shooting in bright sunlight, a 58mm circular ND filter or other filters can be added, offering easy customization to suit creative preferences.
In Thailand, the RF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z is priced at 117,900 baht, while the RF-S7.8mm f/4 STM Dual is 17,890 baht. Canon will announce the prices for the RF50mm f/1.4L VCM and RF24mm f/1.4L VCM lenses soon.
