Canon Delivers Plastic Bottle Caps to Precious Plastic Bangkok for Recycling, Marking 6th Consecutive Year of Plastic Waste Reduction

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. supports the concept of recycling to reduce plastic waste by organizing the campaign “6th Fah Nee Pi Kor” The initiative encourages Canon employees at the head office and branch offices to sort and collect plastic bottle caps, which are then donated to the Precious Plastic Bangkok project. Precious Plastic Bangkok is an international collaborative initiative that promotes the idea of transforming discarded plastic bottle caps into valuable materials. The process begins with proper sorting, followed by shredding and melting, and ultimately turning the material into new, functional products for everyday use. For this campaign, Canon conducted activities throughout 2025, successfully collecting a total of 75 kilograms of plastic bottle caps, equivalent to a reduction of 77.33 kgCO₂e in greenhouse gas emissions.

Most plastic caps are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and cannot melt at a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius. As a result, they do not naturally decompose and are difficult to recycle. However, due to the durability of this material, it is well suited for recycling and upcycling into other products such as plant pots, outdoor chairs, and flooring materials. This process effectively adds value to plastic waste while significantly reducing the amount of plastic waste contaminating the environment.

The “Fah Nee Pi Kor” campaign by Canon Thailand was first launched in 2020 with the objective of raising employee awareness about the importance of plastic waste segregation. The initiative also aims to encourage Thai society and younger generations to move toward the NET ZERO era - achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions-through effective methods of limiting and eliminating greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere in the future. This effort aligns with Canon’s Kyosei philosophy, which emphasizes living and working together for the common good and has been consistently upheld by the company.
