The EOS C80 is an ultra-portable, palm-sized powerhouse designed for effortless mobility while delivering exceptional performance. At the heart of it is a 6K full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor to provide stunning resolution and lightning-fast signal processing for professional-grade results.
With expanded SDI and Ethernet terminals, this camera is perfectly equipped to meet the rigorous demands of live and virtual production environments.
The full-frame sensor offers a shallow depth of field and large bokeh for enhanced creative expression. At the same time, faster signal readout minimises rolling shutter distortion during video recording. Coupled with the DIGIC DV 7 processor, it supports high-speed image processing, enabling 6K 30P internal RAW recording and 4K 4:2:2 10-bit recording through 6K oversampling.
1 Recording is possible at up to 6K 30P (RAW) and 4K 120P. When 4K 120P is selected in Super 35mm mode, the angle of view is cropped at approx. 6%.
2 With Canon Log 2/3 and RAW recording at HDMI RAW setting
The newly integrated SDI terminal allows for simultaneous output alongside the HDMI terminal, providing seamless connectivity with a variety of external devices. Additionally, with the camera's built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet terminal, users can effortlessly operate the camera remotely and monitor its status from a smartphone or computer, unlocking new levels of flexibility and control.
The RF mount's compact and lightweight nature is attributed to its short back focus. The utilisation of RF lenses delivers highly expressive and high-quality imaging. The RF mount's high-speed communication capabilities allow for better-coordinated control of the camera and lens IS to produce powerful image stabilisation.
PL and EF lenses can be fully utilised with an adapter:
*mount adapters are optional accessories
The EOS C80's compact and agile body is perfect for capturing dynamic shots, whether handheld, on a gimbal, or in motion. Its integrated grip offers stability and comfort, even for larger hands, ensuring precise control during extended shoots. This design empowers you to focus on your creative vision with confidence, no matter the scenario.
Achieve crystal clear high definition 4K video with up to 6k readout oversampling*.
4:2:2 10-bit high-resolution recording is enabled through oversampling of the full-frame 6K sensor during 4K/2K movie recording.
*When using XF-AVC, XF-HEVC S, XF-AVC S recording, full-frame sensor mode, and frame rate of 60P/50P or lower.
High-performance subject detection is made possible by the deep learning-based EOS iTR 1 AF X algorithm, which works in tandem with the incredible speed, accuracy, and field of view of Dual Pixel CMOS AF II. The focusing area is approximately 100% x 100%.
The EOS C80 can now detect human body2 and animal3 through the introduction of EOS iTR AF X.
1 Intelligent tracking and recognition.
2 When eyes, face, or head are hidden during AF tracking, the body is detected and tracking continues.
3 Detection of animals other than dogs or cats is not supported.
Get cinematic slow-mo shots of up to 7.5x with with the EOS C80's high quality 4:2:2 10-bit - 2K 180p and 2K/4K 120p*. It also offers continuous autofocus up to 2K/4K 120P, ensuring sharp focus during high-speed action, making it ideal for professionals in dynamic environments.
* When 4K 120P is selected in Super 35mm mode, the angle of view is cropped at approx. 6%.
The camera's Auto Selection feature changes between the three base ISO levels depending on the scene, selecting one with a higher S/N ratio while maintaining dynamic range. Users also can manually choose from the three base ISO* levels: ISO 400, ISO 1600 and ISO 6400 .
Using different base ISOs according to scene brightness (ISO sensitivity) helps reduce noise in videography.
*When using C-Log 2/3 & RAW: 800 / 3200 / 12800
When output to an LCD monitor or with MON. / SDI / HDMI, images are cropped to an angle of view of 2.39:1 after desqueezing.
The magnification ratio can be selected from OFF, 2x, 1.8x, or 1.3x in the menu (when shooting at 4K 60/50P, the desqueezing display is at 2K for MON. / SDI / HDMI). Data recorded for metadata can be configured separately from the magnification ratio.
The Canon Log 2 retains details in medium-to-dark areas with film-like characteristics and provides linear output across a broader range. It enables precise exposure control with minimal colour shifts and preserves detail during post-editing, making it ideal for production environments based on Cineon-Log, such as film production.
Well-known for being user-friendly, the Canon Log 3 enables users to create videos with as little as basic tone adjustments through grading. Tightening the dark areas reduces the noise in the dark areas without compromising a broad dynamic range.
