Set exposure compensation if the exposure (without flash) does not come out as desired. This feature can be used in Creative Zone modes (except <M>). You can set the exposure compensation up to ±5 stops in 1/3-stop increments.
Exposure compensation can increase (brighter) or decrease (darker) the standard exposure set by the camera. You can adjust the value if the mode dial is set to <P, Tv, or Av>.
    REFERENCE
    • You can check the exposure compensation value in the LCD panel, the viewfinder, or in the menu that appears on the LDC monitor.
    • The exposure compensation amount displayed in the viewfinder goes up to only ±2 stops. If the exposure compensation amount exceeds ±2 stops, the end of the exposure level indicator will display [ ] or [ ].
    • If you want to set exposure compensation exceeding ±2 stops, setting it with [ : Expo.comp./AEB] or with the Quick Control screen is recommended. For more information, refer to Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) (EOS REBEL T5/EOS 1200D).

To compensate the exposure value, follow the instructions below.

    1. Set the camera's power switch to <ON>.

    2. Set the Mode Dial to one of the <P, Tv, or Av> modes.

    3. Hold down the <> button and turn the <> dial.

Turn the dial to the left to make the exposure darker, and turn to the right to make it brighter.

    4. Press the shutter button to take the picture.
    • To cancel exposure compensation, set the exposure compensation amount back to <>.
