    Set up: Install Camera Connect on a smartphone
    To communicate with a smartphone, the dedicated smartphone application Camera Connect (free of charge) is necessary.
    • Camera Connect can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.Install Camera Connect on the smartphone and then perform the procedures to establish the connection.
    • To use Camera Connect, a smartphone on which iOS or Android is installed is necessary.
    • When an NFC-enabled smartphone is touched to the camera before installing Camera Connect, the download screen of Camera Connect will be displayed on the smartphone.

    IMPORTANT
    • Please refer to the "Related information" section at the bottom of this page for specifications and system requirements of the smartphones which can be connected wirelessly.
    • Interface or functions of Camera Connect are subject to change due to application improvements or updates.In such a case, features may differ from the sample screens or operation instructions shown here.

    Step 1: Connect the camera and smartphone (basic setup)
    1. Turn on the camera and the smartphone.

    2. Press the camera's <MENU> button to display the menu.



    3. Press the < > < > keys to choose the [ ] tab.



    4. Press the < > < > keys to select [Wi-Fi/NFC], then press < >.



    5. Press < > to select [Enable], then press < >.
    For an NFC-enabled smartphone, press the < DISP. > button to add [ ] to [Allow NFC connections].


    REFERENCE
    Smartphones labeled with the mark are NFC-enabled. Some smartphones are not labeled with the mark even if they are NFCenabled; if you do not know whether your smartphone is NFC-enabled, contact the manufacturer of the smartphone.

    NOTE
    When this setting is selected for the first time, a screen to register a nickname (identification name) is displayed.
    When the camera is connected to another device wirelessly, the nickname will be displayed on the device. Be sure to set a nickname as otherwise you cannot set the wireless functions.
     
    Select [OK] and enter a nickname. (You can enter between 1 to 10 characters.)
     
     
    When you are finished, press the < MENU > button.
     
    Select [OK] on the confirmation dialog and press < >.
    * For details on how to use the keyboard, refer to " Operation Reference: Virtual Keyboard Operation ".

    The basic setup is now complete.The steps after this differ depending on the connection method.
    When the smartphone is NFC-enabled, go to " Step 2-A: Connect the camera and smartphone (Connect via NFC) ".
    When the smartphone is not NFC-enabled, go to " Step 2-B: Connect the camera and smartphone (Connect wirelessly) ".



    Step 2-A: Connect the camera and smartphone (Connect via NFC)
    1. Touch a smartphone to the camera.
    • Touch the mark on the smartphone to that on the camera.
    • If an image is being played back on the camera, press the < > button to end the playback.

    Camera Connect starts on the smartphone and establishes a connection.
    The camera's < > lamp will blink.
    When a message indicating the connection is displayed on the camera's LCD monitor, move the smartphone away from the camera.

    The camera's < > lamp will light up in green.
    * When connecting to the same smartphone, this screen will not appear again.

    2. Save the connection settings.
    Press < > to select [OK], then press < >.



    After a message is displayed, the camera's LCD monitor will turn off.



    After the camera operation is complete, the main window of Camera Connect will be displayed on the smartphone.
    IMPORTANT
    <NFC Function Cautions>
    • When touching the smartphone to the camera, be careful not to drop the camera or smartphone.
    • Do not touch the smartphone to the camera with too much force.Doing so can scratch the camera or smartphone.
    • Just holding the smartphone close to the mark may not establish a connection.Be sure to touch the mark with the smartphone so that they come into contact with each other.
    • Recognition may be difficult depending on the smartphone.Touch slowly while changing the position or rotating horizontally.
    • Another application on the smartphone may start, depending on how you touch. Check the position of the mark, then touch again.
    • A connection cannot be established using the NFC function while shooting with the camera or when the Mode Dial is set to [ ].
    • When touching the smartphone to the camera, do not leave anything between the camera and smartphone.In addition, when a case is attached to the camera or smartphone, communication may not be possible via NFC function.
    • This camera cannot be connected to other NFC-enabled cameras or printers using the NFC function.
    NOTE
    • The camera cannot be connected to two or more smartphones at the same time.
    • By default, the connection settings via the NFC function are saved as the fourth setting (a setting dedicated to NFC connection) under the name [SET4(NFC)].When you connect the camera to another smartphone via NFC, [SET4(NFC)] will be overwritten.
    • While connected, the camera's Auto power off does not function.
    • NFC-enabled smartphones can also be connected by selecting [Easy connection] or [Select a network].
    • You can check or change the device name on the setting screen of Camera Connect.

    The setup for connecting to the smartphone is now completed. Step 3: View and save images on the smartphone ".



    Step 2-B: Connect the camera and smartphone (Connect wirelessly)
    1. Under the [ ] tab, select [Wi-Fi/NFC], then press < >.




    2. Press < > to select [Enable], then press < >.



    3. Press the < > < > keys to select [Wi-Fi function], then press < >.



    4. Press the < > < > keys to select [ ] (Connect to smartphone), then press < >.



    The camera's < > lamp will blink.

    5. Press the < > < > keys to select [Easy connection], then press < >.
    Select [OK] and press < > to go to the next screen.

    6. Operate the smartphone and connect it to the camera.
    • Activate the smartphone's Wi-Fi function, then select the SSID (network name) ( ) displayed on the camera's LCD monitor.
    • For the password, enter the encryption key ( ) displayed on the camera's LCD monitor.


    NOTE
    When connecting by selecting [Easy connection], "_Canon0A" is displayed at the end of the SSID.

    7. When the screen below is displayed, start Camera Connect on the smartphone.



    8. Select and touch the camera to connect to from [Cameras] on Camera Connect.



    When a connection is established, the screen below will appear on the camera's LCD monitor.

    9. Press < > to select [OK], then press < >.



    The camera's < > lamp will light up in green.

    After a message is displayed, the camera's LCD monitor will turn off.



    After the camera operation is complete, the main window of Camera Connect will be displayed on the smartphone.

    10. Operate the camera using Camera Connect.

    The setup for connecting to the smartphone is now completed. Step 3: View and save images on the smartphone ".



    Step 3: View and save images on the smartphone
    1. On the Camera Connect menu screen on the smartphone, choose [Images on camera].



    2. Use your smartphone to save images from the camera to the smartphone.
    When the camera and smartphone are connected, a list of images in the camera appears in "Camera Connect".Tap the [ ] button at the bottom of the screen.



    3. When the selection screen appears, select the images you wish to save ( ) and then tap [Save] ( ) on the bottom right side of the screen.
    The selected images are saved to the smartphone.

    4. When the images have been saved, tap the home button on the top left to return to the menu screen.



    5. To end the connection, tap the [ ] icon on the top right, and then tap [Yes] on the confirmation screen.





    Sending images to a smartphone via wireless LAN is now complete.

    IMPORTANT
    • When you specify viewable images, the Camera Connect functions are restricted.
    • While connected, a picture cannot be taken even if the camera's shutter button is pressed.
    • Depending on the connection status, image display may become slower.
    NOTE
    • The connection will also be terminated if you turn the Mode Dial or open the card slot/battery compartment cover.
    • If you send RAW images to a smartphone, they will be resized to and saved.
    • While connected, the camera's Auto power off does not function.
    • While connected, disabling the smartphone's power saving function is recommended.
    • The camera's < > lamp will blink rapidly when images stored in the
    camera are being saved to a smartphone.



    Operation Reference: Virtual Keyboard Operation
    For details on keyboard operation when registering a nickname (identification name) of the camera, refer to the following.
    You can change the nickname later on the [General sett.] screen.



    Changing the entry areaPress the < > button to toggle between the top and bottom entry areas.
    Moving the cursorPress the < > < > keys in the top area to move the cursor.
    Entering textIn the bottom area, press the < > cross keys or turn the < > dial to select a character, then press < > to enter it.
    You can check how many characters you have entered, and how many more can be entered, by referring to "*/*" on the upper right of the screen.
    Deleting a characterPress the < > button to delete one character.
    Finishing the text entryPress the < MENU > button to confirm what you have entered and exit. If a confirmation dialog is displayed, select [OK] to exit.
    Canceling the text entryPress the < DISP. > button to cancel text entry and exit. If a confirmation dialog is displayed, select [OK] to exit.
