Firmware Version 1.8.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:
1. Adds support for the Software Development Assistance Kit (EDSDK).
2. Fixes an issue that may cause Err70 to be displayed during Bluetooth communication due to interference from other Bluetooth devices.
3. Fixes an issue that may cause Err70 to be displayed when repeatedly shooting in the "High-speed continuous shooting +" mode.
4. Fixes an issue that may cause the camera to not be recognized when connected to a smartphone via USB.
5. Improves other system stability.

If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.8.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
Please perform the firmware update with only the firmware file to be updated stored on the memory card.

Notes:
Users manual in the WEB is updated accordingly. Please download the manual as well as the latest firmware. You can download it from the official WEB site.

Preparations for a firmware update:
After the downloaded compressed file (.dmg file) is extracted, a firmware folder is created.

*Extracting the downloaded file:
The downloaded folder is automatically extracted, and a firmware folder is created. If the download folder cannot be automatically extracted, double-click the folder.

In the folder you downloaded are the firmware (R1018000.FIR / file size: 69,971,664 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese). Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to carefully review the instructions to confirm your understanding of the firmware update procedures.

(The following is the history of past firmware updates.)

Changes in version 1.7.0:
1. Improves security features. A password must be set initially.
•Adds the ability to review the history of any changes made to the password, network information, or other settings.
*For more information, please refer to the 'Setting a Password' section in the Advanced User Guide on cam.start.canon.
2. Enables firmware updates to be performed when the camera is connected to the internet and new firmware is made available on Canon servers.
3. Fixes an issue in which the camera may become unresponsive after simultaneously pressing a button assigned to [One-Shot AF→Servo AF] and the shutter button.
4. Fixes an issue in which image stabilization may stop working when using an EF lens.

Changes in version 1.6.0:
1. Adds the ability to select [WPA2] and [WPA3] as a secured protocol.
2. Adds support for the Software Development Assistance Kit (EDSDK/CCAPI).
3. The following issues have been fixed.
　3-1. Fixes an issue, in which when SPEEDLITE EL-5, EL-10 is attached, the "Accessory unavailable status" message may be displayed when restarting after the camera has gone into Auto Power Off. (Only occurs with firmware Ver.1.5.0)
　3-2. Fixes an issue, in which when performing shooting in high-speed continuous shooting + mode with the [Highlight Tone Priority] option set to [ON], focus may not be achieved when certain ISO speed settings are used.

Changes in version 1.5.0:
1. Adds support for the Software Development Assistance Kit (EDSDK/CCAPI).
2. The following issues have been fixed.
　2-1. Fixes an issue that may cause the camera, in rare instances, to experience a delayed restart after the camera has gone into Auto Power Off.
　2-2. Fixes an issue that, under specific circumstances and in rare instances, may prevent the image from being displayed in the viewfinder or on the screen causing the camera to stop operating, or Error Code 70 may be displayed.
　2-3. Fixes an issue that may result in Error Code 70 being displayed when the user is shooting in A+ Mode or with the camera set to AI Focus AF.
　2-4. Fixes an issue that may cause the card access lamp to start flashing and the camera to not operate normally when shooting small subjects.
　2-5. Fixes an issue that may cause the camera to continue shooting when the user presses the shutter button and another button at the same time.

Changes in version 1.4.0:
1. Adds support for RF-S10-18mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens.
2. Fixes minor issues.

Changes in version 1.3.0:
1. Adds support for Speedlite EL-5.*
*The automatic light intensity adjustment of the AF-assist beam is not supported.
2. Adds support for the RF-S55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM.
3. Fixes minor issues.

Changes in version 1.2.0:
1. The [User Def.] on [Picture Style] can now be selected in the Cloud Raw image processing settings.
2. Fixes an issue that, in rare instances, displays an Error Code 70 when the camera is capturing small subjects.
3. Fixes minor issues.

Changes in version 1.1.0:
1. Supports Cloud RAW image processing.
